Obama’s Recovery Plan
President Obama launched the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act this week. Following the example of private sector projects, President Obama launched the plan with an accompanying visual identity. While some some commmentators made reference to the similarity of this identity to the Soviet Hammer and Sickle emblem, we saw something else.
At first glance we thought the logo looked similar to Lester Beall’s iconic posters for the Rural Electrification Administration in the 1930’s with a very clear 2D style. On closer inspection the circle segments of the logo seemed to spell out the letters of Obama’s name. way when tilted in different directions.
